It isn't small by any margin, in fact larger than many independent countries.

The current crackdown by the troops is against every basic tenet of international law and the concept of humanitarianism. Already reeling under the impact of an economic blockade the curfew has further accentuated the conditions and a humanitarian disaster is staring at our faces.

Kashmir is part of India only because it is intrinsically a part of India just like any other part of India and if any territory had not been intrinsically part of India, “India” would have been an alien occupying country with the prospect of the occupied territory becoming Independent. Kashmir is thus not like Tibet or East Turkistan which are presently occupied by China with out an iota of right and there is no question of “India” (and Kashmir) being “better off without each other” or “India” “hold”ing on to Kashmir as suggested in the Times of India poll. Ultimately, the issue is whether India is just a mere geographical expression as is made out by anti-nationals or whether India has in spite of all the previous partitions, a right to exist as a nation with what ever territories that continue to remain part of her which inter alia includes Kashmir and protect her territorial integrity and assert her right to exist as a nation for her right to survival as a nation and not as a mere geographical abstract. In the past Afghanistan was part of India and the Sarada script, which is used to write in Kashmiri, was prevalent even in Balkh in northern Afghanistan but some Kashmiris have willfully discarded all that is indigenous to Kashmir just to get rid of Kashmir’s indigenous and inherent Indian civilization. And the Kashmiri language is being sought to be written in the Arabic-Persian script which is ill-suited and deficient to write in Kashmiri rather than Kashmir’s own Sarada Script which is indigenous to Kashmir and a part of Kashmiri culture. It is irrelavent that Kashmiris have been converted to Islam. Kashmiris are the descendants of their Hindu Indo-Aryan ancestors and are the inheritors of their indigenous Indian heritage. Once those Kashmiris realize that and understand who they are, their animosity to the concept of India will just vanish and there will be true national integration . Do you realize why the name Andrabi is prevailant in Kashmir? It is because the Andarab Valley in Afghanistan had a Hindu civilization before the advent of Islam into India. Check these links.

Quite a sentimental discourse Mr. Hindutashravi. Unfortunately for you, calling Kashmir an intrinsic part of India is an big error in itself. You have tried to present the view that everything before your independence from the British rule was India and hence so it should be even now. Let me correct you here, before quoting Aryan civilization and someones Wikipedia writeup, you should have looked at the history of India and Kashmir. While "every thing was India" civilization dates back only 4000 years or so, the recorded history of Kashmir is around 5000 years old. Moreover everyone and everything wasn't Hindu and Hindi either, Kashmir had Shaivism and that wasn't and isn't the same as Hinduism. While the Hindu religion speaks of many gods, the Kashmiri Pandits (not Hindus) worship just one God.
ReplyDeletePlease refer to my previous post to take a little deeper plunge into Kashmir, so that you can get rid of any "inherently Indian" assumptions. (http://tajamulbeig.blogspot.com/2008/08/nearly-5000-years-of-civilization-this.html)
